BIL for apprentice made redundant after 75% of programme

Created

Hi,

We have an apprentice who was recently made redundant but had completed more than 75% of the practical period, so the ESFA will fund 100% of the remaining costs and we would support them to completion. The apprentice has now informed us that they'd like to take a break in learning. We can't see anything in the funding rules that would prevent this, but likewise we can't see anything saying this is allowed. Does anybody know if an apprentice could take a break in learning in this scenario?

Thanks,

Scott

I would assume this must be possible, but I'd contact the Apprenticeship Service. You'd think it would be the ESFA helpdesk, but every time I even mention Apps, they bounce it to the AS. I get generally better and quicker responses from the AS, so I'm ok with that.

Yeah, can't see it being a problem, all other things being equal (ie it's a legitimate BIL reason)? Feels like they'd explicitly say you couldn't if it was a thing?

Thanks both. I've queried it with the Apprenticeship Service to get clarity. It's a legitimate BIL reason so hopefully they'll say it's all fine.
