Visa extension question

Edited

Hello all

I've been reading up on previous posts on the community and reading the ESFA guidelines (grey as ever) just wanted to check i've interpreted correctly.  We have a learner who we have held off from the apprenticeship (19+) as their spouse dependant visa is expiring in March 2025, so they would not have had enough time left on visa to complete a 12 month program.  They have now sent me prove that they have applied for a visa extension...am i correct in thinking this is enough prove to start them on their apprenticeship rather than having to actually wait for the 'approved' extension to come through?

Steve Hewitt Ruth Canham-James any insight?  Thank you :)

  Thanks in advance, Sam

Hi Sam,

It would be good to hear if anyone knows any different but my thought is you wouldn't be able to use the proof they had applied for the extension as there is nothing to say it will be approved.

Hi Marie Kershaw

Thanks for your reply, yes, that was the conclusion i've come to, whilst im sure there will be no problem we need to err on the side of caution.  Thanks for your help :)
