Skills Bootcamp ILR Guide

Created

Has anyone made a guide on how to code all the different parts of a Skills Bootcamps in all the different possible scenarios? I'm struggling to piece together all the disparate guidance into one set of clear instructions for what goes in the ILR.

I'm trying to come up with my own guidance, but because we're part of a special project this year, we're not actually coding our Bootcamps entirely normally this year, which means we don't even get ILR validation if we do it wrong which might provide clues. I still want to plan for next year when the project ends.

Some questions I have:

  • If you run regulated components, do you code them as 37/105, Aim Type 3 and Programme Type 32 still? That then means they can't go on after the programme aim has closed (ILR validation R140). Do you include regulated aim AED dates when working out the programme aim end date?
  • The guidance says the programme aim should have "an end date which is the overall end date of the bootcamp - when the bootcamp learning has finished and events including gaining the interview offer unless the learner withdraws". It then says "The programme aim's learning actual end date does not include the Outcome event where the learner is offered a job, this is represented by the Achievement Date". What is they weren't offered an interview, just straight offered a job? The programme aim AED just matches the component aim? That then means the job offer event will have a later AED than the programme aim, which breaks the ILR validation rule R143. How does that work?
  • Do you need an achievement date on the events? PSM seems to say no, but the ILR spec suggests yes.
  • The sixth month rule means we record a fail on the programme aim if no event happens, but the guidance then says "Against the component learning aim, record Completion Status = 2 'The learner has completed the learning activities leading to the learning aim' and Outcome = 1 or 3 'Achieved' or 'Not Achieved' in the Outcome field". Which one is it? What's the definition of whether the main component was pass of fail? I know it's pass if an interview is offered, but why does it give us this option in the sixth month rule bit?

I probably have lots more questions, but that's a start.

Hi there, this is a long 1 but im just responding regarding the achievement on the skills boot camp.

You only need to add the achievement date to the ZPROG, SLD doesn't report achievement dates on any other aim.

If no event has happened, i still add the event aim and no achievement.

Hope that helps a bit.

Yes, I figured no achievement date on anything but the ZPROG, but the ILR spec doesn't explain that properly.

Which event do you add if there was no event? That doesn't sound right.

The guidance on all this is woefully lacking 🙁 The fact that nobody else has yet replied to this post suggests nobody is sure.
