This is why we code all non-mandatory aims as 99/998 and not a component and not part of the apprenticeship. This was happening to us a lot when the optional aim hadn't finished before gateway. You cannot get around the ILR errors without withdrawing, and re-enrolling on a non-apprenticeship version of the same aim (unless it's English/maths, when it's ok). We decided to avoid that rigmarole and just stopped recording them as part of the apprenticeship in the first place. If there are no other actual components, it does mean you need to add a Z00 code so that you don't have an empty Programme Aim. We internally use course codes that make it look like part of the apprenticeship, but in the ILR it's just unfunded.

We have a scenario where the Apprentice has passed gateway but a non-mandatory aim has not been completed within the Programme Aim. I need to close the Component Aim to be able to update passed gateway. They are continuing the non-mandatory aim so they can complete it however, how do I record this as I am sure you can't have a component aim set up with no live programme aim? Please could someone advise me on this? Many Thanks
