Functional Skills as a part of Apprenticeship post April

Created

None

With the changes that took place in February regarding Functional Skills no longer being mandatory for EPA we have a few questions. In the original announcement there was the date of April 1st to have everyone withdrawn by who weren't going to continue.

Currently we're having learners approach us who were given the opportunity to withdraw and had a discussion prior to 1st April at the time they said they wanted to continue. However are now changing their mind.

We're also starting to have learners who have signed up committed to Funcitonal Skills at the start of their Apprenticeship in April, however have now started to change their mind.

How are people treating these learners?

We are, I believe, following the rules. They have to sit the exams but not pass them.

Yes currently that's the line we're taing. However it does mean we're forcing the learners through a bit once their initial signup enthusiasm has faded. It's small numbers we're receiving in this situation but I'm really interested to see how other providers are dealing with it.
