25-26 - 8 or 12mth rule EYP L2 Apprenticeship

Created

Hi,

I'm hoping someone could offer some clarity.

Early Years Practitioner level 2 apprenticeship.

25-26 rules state the 20% OTJ rule is no more, and employers could request to do more or less OTJ hours per week for instance (agreed at start).

Minimum duration is now 8 months.

However, for the above apprenticeship, iFATE's website states there is a 12 month minimum duration to gateway - does this mean regardless of RPL, or the number of hours the employer would like to release the apprentice, that they would HAVE to do at least 12 months practical period and can't drop below this?

Or have I misunderstood the rules?

A very good spot. I will contact Skills England to get an answer. Never seen a minimum, rather than a typical duration before.

The duration in IfATE/Skills England is now mostly labelled "Typical Duration", but some of the older ones are still labelled "Minimum Duration". It's just a hangover, someone confirmed that it isn't minimum anymore. If you download the data, the column is labelled "Typical Duration". This was something that was really confusing me, they need to get the terminology updated asap.

The Senior Product Manager at Skills England is looking into it and will come back.
