Calculate remaining funds for a provider transfer

Created

Hello,

Interested to hear how others (accurately) calculate remaining funds for an apprentice that is transferring from another provider to yourself. We are not aware of any systems where we can check this figure ourselves, and have to rely on information provided to us which cannot be checked. What happens if the information provided is incorrect and you are underclaiming or overclaiming on the remaining funding within the max funding band?

Many thanks, Dean.

We do the best we can with the info we have. Start Date and Actual End Date are on the PLR. We assume they charged band max unless told otherwise. We try and get the Planned End Date from the apprentice or employer (if they're staying with teh same employer). We do our own Skills Scan as with all new apprentices, so there's no notion of "underclaiming" if the remaining KSB we think needs covering happens to be less than the amount left in the band. If our assessment of what's left in the band turns out to be lower than expected, you'll find out in the apps reports after you first return them in the ILR. Then you can decide whether to charge the remainder to the employer, or just take the hit. We rarely get it wrong, as we're usually able to get the original Planned dates somehow, and teh calculations are very straightforward. I recently did some user research about the LRS, and I requested that they add Planned End Date for ILR records, as it would be really useful in these cases.
