Component aim completed, gateway awaited- reporting on ILR

Created

None

I have an apprentice who has completed the component aim (degree) and is now awaiting gateway and EPA.

The guidance is clear that this should be reported as Programme aim : 2 completed learning activities, 8  outcome not yet known.

I could record the Component aim as 2 completed, outcome: 1- achieved, outcome grade: DS, achievement date  1/7/25.

I have seen some advice somewhere that it is better to leave the Component aim as "8 outcome not yet known" until the Programme Aim can also be reported as Achieved.  I can't see any reason why this would be preferable to reporting achievement now but would welcome any views on either approach.

Where did you see that? Why would that be better? We always close the components as 2/8 when they finish, and then achieved/no achievement as soon as we know the result. ILR rules are clear on recording things in a timely way. Especially with a degree, OfS would definitely have opinions on you not recording a result when you knew it.

Also, the Programme aim has to be 1/8 (with an Actual End Date) rather than 2/8. Not sure why! Our MI system (ProSolution) has a completion request tool that doesn't allow that. Staff enter them as 2/8 and we have a script that flips all 2/8 apprentices to 1/8.

Thanks- that's what I thought.  The advice must have been about some other situation.

Will amend the Programme  Completion as you suggest.
