Skills Bootcamps Event codes

Created

None

Hello,

I am trying to submit an ILR with Bootcamp learners on Milestone 2. It was my assumption that one learner could have more than one event code, if they for example have multiple job interviews. However when putting the first event code on and using the Provider Support Manual where a learner had an interview but did not secure the job with dates before Hard Close, it is erroring if I do not close the ZPROG001. The problem is if I mark the ZPROG001 as Not achieved, it effectively closes down the learner so they do not appear on the ILR in 25/26.

What if that learner were then to have a successful interview in September but I can't amend the entry as Hard Close has been?

Kind regards

Charlie

Sorry marginally confused. Not quite sure what you mean by Hard Close, here? If you mean R14 then the new event codes are only for starts after 1 August.

If you mean month end and the learner did start after 1 August, have you got the most up to date version of FIS because I'm fairly sure the validation rule you're talking about has been changed to a warning rather than an error (for starts after 1 August)?

Sorry, yes by Hard close I mean R14.

So for example,

Learner 1 - started in May 2025, completed all learning activities in June 2025, had an interview but was unsuccessful in June 2025, but is still actively seeking employment and will have an interview in the near future that they may be successful for.

By claiming Milestone 2 and marking the ZPROG001 as Not achieved the learner won't pull over into R01 ILR file so I can't update with any future event codes.

Any help appreciated!

We rolled all or bootcamp students who achieved the quals and met milestone 2 but not 3 yet, into 25/26 as long as they weren't past the 6 month deadline yet. We only fully close once they meet milestone 3, or miss the deadline for that. Why is it erroring if you leave the ZPROG as continuing, what's the error code?

Thanks Ruth!

So for one learner who hasn't achieved M3, we have closed down the event code, and the component aim and left ZPROG001 open, they have gone through R14 with no errors but in R02 they have these errors:

R136 - Skills Bootcamp programme aims must have a corresponding component aim with the same combination of funding model, programme type and contract reference number

and

R31 - An open programme must have an associated learning aim with the same Programme type and Standard code

Ah! We rolled all the completed components with the ZPROG, like you do with Apprenticeships and T Levels. I just assumed that was right for Bootcamps, but I just checked and it is in the migration specification 😊

I don't think the migration specification is well publicised enough. I worked in MIS for years before I knew it even existed, I just learnt it all from colleagues.

Ruth! I can't thank you enough for that info!
