Have they actually finished all other content? If they're going past their PED with their other content, I'd say you can add FS as they are still within their Practical Period, it's just longer than planned. If they have finished all other content, I'm not sure. You may have to record as 1/8, and just have a really long time between completion and EPA. You could record the FS as unfunded and not components for completeness.
Ruth Canham-James the problem I have had is with the dates for the FS aim. The start date for FS is after the PPED for the ZPROG - and therefore obviously the real planned end date for FS will be too.
I don't know if I am allowed to put start and/or planned end dates for a FS aim that fall after the planned end date for the ZPROG (even if there is no actual end date yet for the ZPROG)? I was assuming that I couldn't.
Emily Fairbrother the response I got today from DfE helpdesk is as follows:
“you can record the engagement on the ILR: open FM 36 aims that relate to that with a start and planned end date matching the engagement using the restart indicator (if there is no funds left to claim then the TNP should be zero) add the functional skills aims and then that’s it.”
Does that make sense to you? as I am not sure what they are saying if I am honest.
Why are they talking about TNP on a FS component? That's concerning. It sounds like they're talking about a whole apprenticeship, not just FS, but there's never no funding left unless you already claimed completion, so no idea what they are thinking.
If there is no funding left, record it as unfunded. If you're not claiming funding, just record it as not part of the apprenticeship, and it won't matter.
I'm sure you can add a funded FS component that starts after the PED, as long as it's not after the Actual End Date. Have you tried it to see if it errors? That's how I usually find out things.

Apprenticeship - Functional Skills after PP end date

Hello,
We have been sent a query from our curriculum team, we have 2 learners that have not yet achieved their FSkills L2, their practical period end date has now passed. They now want to enrol the learners on to FS? We have advised that the funding rules say that learners cannot start a FS outside of their practical period end date and that all aims should be done during this time. Is there any other way we can record this in the ILR?
