AI and plagiarism checker

Can anyone recommend a reliable AI and plagiarism checker please? Our organisation requires us to use one in line with Data Protection regulations and has asked us to find one that process data within the EU/UK. It would be interesting to know what other providers are using for this.

Hi there,

We use 'Turnitin' with our apprentice's academic work.

Not sure if this answers your question?

Courtney Davis

Thanks for sharing Jenny. Do you find it effective in identifying AI generated work?

Jenny Johnson

Hi there Courtney

It is not fool proof

You will also need your own company policies and procedures to ensure you establish your own benchmark/% tolerance of AI in the learners work.

It can be tricky to justify the cost of Turnitin. We were quoted some pretty high prices.

Courtney Davis

Hi Sam

Did you decide not to go with Turnitin because of the price? Do you use something else instead?

Sam Bern

We used an alternative that's available online. But I know we're not meant to place links to other products. It's not as robust as turnitin. But it seems that at this stage AI checkers are just indicating that AI might be used and then you have to do a series of checks manually to understand if it has been used and to what extent.

My hope is that in the future AI companies like chatgpt and google will release AI checkers to schools and training providers so we're able to catch it as opposed to essentially creating a new way to cheat and then taxing education companies to spot it.
