Returning to the same apprenticeship after a withdrawal

Created

Hi

We have a learner who started an apprenticeship with us a couple of years ago, they completed approx 4 months with us and then withdrew.  The learner now wants to continue with the same apprenticeship.  Since then there has been a funding band increase.

When calculating the new price, do I discount previous levy payments from the original funding band or from the current funding band.

Thanks

Sharon

I have a feeling that, last time I tested this, the DfE did tie the data together in the background and limited us to the original price, even without an original start date. I'm not 100% sure on that though. I think I'd try going for the higher price, waiting to see what your monthly income is and whether that matches what you expected for the higher price (minus the 4 months), and see if it matches. If it's below, then you know the answer, and you can surprise the employer with a nice discount.

I am also pretty sure the DFE link the Apprenticeship Standard ID, ULN & start date from historic ILR's.

I vaguely remember we took a learner from another provider after withdrawing 1-2 years before.

The Funding Band Maximum showed the original price of training provider #1 - rather than the funding band maximum of a new-start at provider #2

I would also suggest checking your PDSATs on report 26A-103 then look at column AY "Total negotiated price as proportion of funding band maximum" & the learner shows above 100% you know it's to high.
