T Level Component Resit

Does anyone else allow students to sit a T Level component (Technical Qual) in year 1, then let then resit just the assessment in year 2?
We're not sure what to do with the data in this case. We have to record the AED in year one (and report it in year 1), because that's when delivery ended. When they resit in year 2, our exams team wanted to change the grade to the new one, and update the AED.
I've told them that they can't change the AED between years, but can they change the grade? They don't love that solution as they want to record the resit date too for internal purposes.
We can't add a new ILR enrolment for year 2 with new start date because there's no delivery in year 2.
If we just record the new grade and date internally (not in the ILR) we're a little concerned that it won't appear in the student's PLR. AOs should be submitting it to LRS, but I've found many examples where they haven't done so for resits.
Any thoughts on options?

Just change the grade, surely? Nothing stopping them recording it somewhere for internal purposes but I don't think the ILR is the place...
