Hi,
When training towards the practical period has been completed and the following statement required by the funding rules has been completed the Apprentices is at the gateway point.
P356.2 signed statement by employer and provider that the apprentice meets the gateway requirements and is ready to undertake end-point assessment;
Their may be a delay in starting the end point assessment with the EPAO and the EPA will have a specified time for the EAP in the assessment specification, this will all take time at least 7 days but possibly much longer so there must be a gap between end of training and completion of the EPA.

Hi Jess
You will have your learners registered on the relevant EPAO portal, be that SEPA, ACE360 or some other system. There will be mandatory documents which will need to be submitted via the portal, for example employer and learner declarations, a main qualification if there is one, functional skills certs or exemptions, potentially a reflective statement or self assessment, you get the picture. Once everything has been uploaded, you then formally submit the learner record for Gateway approval. From here, there may be a multiple choice test or situational judgement to be done, which the EPAO should arrange to happen and then possibly a professional discussion, observed assessment or some other form of assessment (sorry, I don't know the standard you refer to so don't know the assessment plan in any detail). When all elements are complete, the EPAO will inform you of the final grade, be that pass or fail. Because of the time it takes from the last date in learning to the EPA result, it will always be more than seven days.

@Sue Bishop Thanks for explaining it. A whole separate department deal with this side of Apprenticeships and it appears they have recorded a couple of dates incorrectly,
Just a final question - the achievement date is the last day of any EPA activists so do you find the result out on the last day so you can record the outcome at the point of inputting the achievement date. Or in reality do you not populate the achievement date until the result is published, meaning you the achievement date you are recording is always in the past?
Hi Jess
Generally, our EPAO works really fast and we get the result within a few days of the last aspect being undertaken. I always use the date of the last aspect (in our case the PD) to be the achievement date. We don't wait for certificates before submitting, we have an email from the EPAO detailing the learner, the date of the PD and the grade so as far as I'm concerned that is enough for an auditor.

Achievement date must be 7 days after Actual End Date

In 2021 this has turned form a warning into an error but i m struggling to find this supported anywhere in the guidance. Can anyone help?
Are the days between the last day of learning (Actual End Date) and date EPA sat (Achievement Date) classed as Gateway and so during this time a review of the apprentices SKB should be reviewed, tested and revision activities for EPAs take place - and this should take at least 7 days? I need to explain this to our apprenticeship unit and suspect they may be getting muddled between learning activities and gateway activities, but not 100 of the terminology of Gateway myself!
