There is no Completion Date in the ILR for Standards. The definition of Actual End Date is;
The date that the learner completed the learning activities necessary to achieve the learning aim... accurate to within a week.
Plus;
For apprenticeship standards on a programme aim, where the learner has not completed all learning activities by 1st August 2019, the Learning Actual End Date will be completed after all learning has taken place.
Is the gateway meeting learning? We often report an AED slightly earlier that the official gateway meeting. It definitely can't be later. The other date is the Achievement Date, which is the date the apprentice completed the EPA, pass or fail. We wouldn't enter an Achievement date immediately if they failed, but intended to resit, we'd wait until they passed, or gave up trying.
When closing a Standard with an Actual End Date, you weirdly code it as 1:8 until the Achievement Date goes in. Provider Support Manual says;
In order to be recorded as ‘Completed’ (Completion status code 2), both the training and end point assessment activities for the programme must be completed. An end point assessment that has resulted in a failed outcome can be classed as complete as long as the learner reaches the end of the end point assessment period, rather than withdrawing. If either of these have not been completed, then the programme aim cannot be recorded with Completion status code 2.
Apologies for jumping in on this post. We have recently been audited and it has been suggested that we are not reviewing learners sufficiently when they enter gateway. Our Learners on average take about 6 weeks to complete gateway. Could someone please give some advice on what we would need to demonstrate and the frequency please?

Apprenticeship Standard Completion Date
Created
Hi All,
We have a couple of learners who are now in their gateway period and we are looking to amend the ILR as a 2:8. My understanding is that the completion date is the date the EPA Gateway meeting was held and recorded on the EPA documentation, as this is the date that all parties agree the apprentice is ready and have passed all aspects of their practical period. However, this date wont match the EPAO's gateway date as it can take them a few days to process their learner and paperwork for gateway.
Am I right in thinking the completion date is the Gateway meeting and not when the EPAO processes? or should the completion date be something else entirely?
Just looking for some clarification
Many Thanks
