Cash incentives for employers to hire new apprentices double

Further to the announcement on Wednesday about the incentives for employing and apprentice being doubled i was wondering if there had been any published guidance on this yet?
Also what is the definition of a new employee/ new apprentice, if they started in December 20 but enrolled on to an apprenticeship is March 21 does this qualify?

Andy, the way I read it was that from April the incentive was being raised to £3k so from that I took it that it was April starts it would be applicable to.
Thanks for your reply. Its the qualifying period that i cant seem to find any clarification on for both the existing Grant and the increased Grant that starting in April.
