Hi Andrew
The 31 May deadline applies to apprentices who started with their employers between 1 August 2020 and 31 March 2021
For apprentices who start from 1 April 2021 to 30 Sept 2021 (who qualify for the new £3K incentive) the Employers can apply for the incentive payments from 1 June 2021 to 30 November
@... This is still an issue for employers that we work with who will have recruited their apprentice with a start date of employement being between August 2020 and March 2021. We have some apprentices who we can't sign up until the end of May 2021 and it seems unfair that the deadline for applications is the end of May 2021 when they're applying this to learners with a practical start date of their apprenticeship that could be at the end of May 2021.
Hi Andrew,
I recently raised this on an AELP webinar and their feeling was that given the 31 May deadline was an extension from the previous 31 March one, it would be unlikely ESFA would make any further changes. I got the impression they hadn't picked up on this before but clearly there are other providers with learners starting at the end of the month, who fall outside of the second collection period!
We have managed to fast-track our learners so far to give employers enough time to apply.

Application deadline for incentive payments
Created
The funding rules state that employers must apply for incentive payments by the end of May 2021 for any apprentice that joined their organisation between 1st August 2020 and 31st March 2021 and has an apprenticeship practical period start date between 1st August 2020 and 31 May 2021 inclusive. There appears to be no flexibility for employers to make a claim for incentive payments for any apprentices that a training provider is not scheduled to sign up on programme until towards the end of May 2021 give the 31st May deadline. Has anyone raised this with the apprenticeship service or ESFA? Taking account of the bank holiday weekend at the end of May 2021 there is a risk that employers we work with might not be able to claim for the incentive payment in this scenario.
