Hmm, if the LA want the learner to come to you full time, then it's unlikely they'll be fundable, but there's an awful lot of ifs and buts in these scenarios... Also, it's possible for U16s to be paid for by the LA to study with you, but you need to make sure there's a million and one safeguarding things sorted first!

Learner under 16 - funding query
Created
Hi
I'm interested to know how institutions (who don't have direct funding for 14-16 year olds) can claim funding for an under 16 year old who has been referred from their local authority, who was receiving home education (but is no longer), is not on a school roll and who now wants to do a L1/2 full-time study programme. As I understand it, funding for 14-16yr olds can be claimed under the 16 to 19 funding methodology as long as certain criteria are met (such as being home-educated and on a part-time programme of study or that the learner has already achieved a full Level 2 qualification.) However, in the above scenario, this learner would be ineligible for ESFA funding – is that right?
Any advice would be much appreciated
Thanks
Helen
