Change in FS awarding organisation

Edited

Morning all,

We have just changed awarding organisations for our functional skills exams. Do I have to change all the learning aim references for those who are still on programme and yet to complete their FS, so it matches at the end, or will i just need to ensure all new starts have the respective matching aim? Many thanks

You must always represent reality in your ILR, so you will need to transfer them all if that's what they're now working towards and they will be doing the assessment with the new Awarding Organisation. If they're AEB or apprenticeship funded, you'll need to make sure you reduce funding. Remember also that the learning aims and grades you report in your ILR go in the Learner Records Service, so if you're reporting that they passed an aim they actually didn't, that will mean that learner's central record is wrong.

I think if they're in-year starts you can probably get away with just replacing the learning aim as the funding won't be any different and they were never *really* on the other aim, but if they were in R14 on something different you'll have to do a "proper" transfer.

Thankyou Ruth Canham-James and Steve Hewitt! I am inclined to agree with you Steve and yes, as we profile and work over 6 months, they will all be in year starts as we have only just moved to a new awarding organisation. Thanks very much for your guidance as always

Hi,

Im in this exact situation, so when you say to replace the ILR, I can just delete the old aim and reaplace it with the new awarding body aim using the same start and end dates and it will not cause an error?

Thanks

Steve Hewitt

Provided they started the aim since 1 Aug 2020, yeah, it'll be fine. Remember the ILR overwrites every time it's submitted, so there's not really anything for it to error on.
