We've had people take a break for very similar reasons before, and have had an auditor say this is fine. The guidance is deliberately liberal when it comes to 'personal reasons' for these kinds of situations. Providing you keep good records, follow the flow-chart, and can substantiate that all parties have agreed, you shouldn't come unstuck.

Return from Break in learning due to work commitments
Created
Good morning,
We have some learners who have requested a break in learning due to commitments at work as they have no time to complete work against the programme (due Covid-19 the responsibilities have increased). The guidance states as eligible reasons to go on break in learning: illness, parental leave or other personal reasons. If we go through flowchart route - the learner would be eligible for break in learning as both learner and employer agree, the request is coming from learner and they want to return to the same programme and employer after BIL, however I am not sure if work commitment is an eligible reason to have the break.
Please, can I kindly ask your advice?
Many thanks,
Madalina
