Had normal things happened over the last two years, I think we'd have a calculation that looked something like what we mean by "timely" by now (I reckon we'll end up with a different name for it), the plan was they were going to start consulting on it last summer. So, yes they want one, no, we don't really know how it will work (look out for the consultation!).
Figures I suppose! Any thoughts on how you think they might work it? Or how you might want it to work? Seems like the same potential issues are still present, i.e. the delivery of the EPA is somewhat out of our control, but basing it simply off of when they reach gateway seems to be slightly unavailing because it isn't really a measure of success
That was basically where we'd got to ;)
I suspect we will end up with something that uses the difference between Planned End and AchDate though? But maybe it should be more than three months? And maybe it should be a secondary measure to overall?
(also, of course, it will be incredibly low for the first two years, so things can only get better!!! ;))
The 2017/18 QAR Business rules included the following:
We will exclude apprenticeship standards from the timely achievement rates. We are excluding these because providers have raised concerns about how we calculate timely achievement rates for apprenticeship standards. This is because the ‘Learning planned end date’ of an apprenticeship standard recorded in the ILR includes both the learning delivery element and end point assessment (EPA) element; where the timing of the EPA is not entirely in a provider’s control. Therefore, we will suspend timely QARs for standards until we have implemented a way for providers to record reaching gateway (when they are ready to take their EPA)
Since then, timely achievement rates have not been included for Standards but as the actual end date now reflects when the Apprentice has reached the gateway it is possible that the suspension will be lifted for future QAR’s.
It is possible for providers to produce timely achievement date internally so that they can monitor their delivery so that they are prepared when the suspension is lifted.

Timely completion for Standards

Do we anticipate that they'll start to measure timely completions against Standards at any point? I recall them being in the exclusions in 17/18 due to concerns over the EPA not being within the provider's control, and I don't think they've ever made an appearance since then unless i'm mistaken? Obviously timely has not been a feature for the last year and a bit because of COVID, but just wondering if anyone has heard/read anything about it becoming a thing for Standards.
