FS maths L1 & L2 on L2 programme?

Hi, I have a learner signing up to a L2 apprenticeship that requires L1 maths and English to be passed and the L2 exams to be sat. How do I put these onto the ILR on PICS? They don't already have L1 maths but initial assessment came out as 1.8 - could/should we just put them straight onto L2 maths instead? Thanks for any help with this.

Straight onto L2.

As you cannot claim funding for the L1 where assessment indicates they are working at level 1 standard.

From the funding rules

Apprentices must start, continue to study and take the assessment for level 2 English and maths (functional skills level 2 or GCSE). If they do not achieve a level 2, you must then ensure they take the assessment for level 1 English and/or maths – this is because they must secure the level 1 qualification in order to complete their apprenticeship.

Thank you so much for the quick replies. I was hoping that was the case but questioned it as I'm so used to looking for certification for exemption. This makes perfect sense.

Hi,

I know this is an old topic but we use BKSB and if a learner is 1.8 on their system this is a working towards level not a working at level and therefore should the learner not be level 1 ? Their actual working at level is Entry 3.

Thanks

If they score Level 1.8 you know you they are closer to Level 2 than Level 1.
