FAM DAM codes exporting incorrectly

Hi all,
We have been asked by our Devolved Authority to record the FAM DAM codes for flexibilities in different combinations using DAM fields 1-6 (to enable them to merge multi providers reports into one large sheet and filter for the same codes)
I have done this, but in the FIS Occupancy report they all show in columns 1&2 regardless of which number DAM code we have populated in our system.
I have contacted our software supplier as I think this may be something our system is doing, but, I wondered if this may be a technical specification thing within the ILR that causes the codes to auto export into the fields numerically if the earlier fields are blank?
Has anyone any knowledge of the spec or has anyone experienced this?
