ILR Error - PCFLDCS_02

Created

None

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help, I have been submitting level 4 apprenticeship standard returns for a couple of years now with no errors, however, in July's return i received the following error: PCFLDCS_02 for all of our level 4 apprenticeship learners. The guidance on this error and from the help-desk has not been helpful and we have had claw-backs for these learners, if anyone has any guidance on this I would really appreciate it. Many thanks.

For each aim that errors check the Learn Direct Class system codes recorded at https://findalearningaimbeta.fasst.org.uk/ (the Percentage taught in first LDCS subject must be returned)

Hi Martin,

Thank you for your reply.

The learn direct  class system says that LDCS code 1 is applicable for financial management and accounting and i can see from the error code that the Percentage taught in first LDCS subject field needs completing, however, i do not know what value needs to be submitted, do you have any further guidance at all?

Many thanks for your help.

If you lookup the aim on https://findalearningaimbeta.fasst.org.uk/

Go to the LearnDirect class system tab it will show what is applicable and if there is only one entry then you would record 100% against the first LDCS.

If more than one entry the total must equal 100% for all subjects so it could be for two a 50% split with only 50% being recorded against the first LDCS.

That's great, thank you for your help Martin.

Hello,

I'm afraid, if a learning aim has codes in two different LDCS codes, a straight 50/50 split is unacceptable. We were OfS audited this year and they insisted on seeing evidence of how we came about the percentage split. I cannot find any guidance at all about what this even means, so I'm afraid I can't help there. The teaching teams didn't have a clue either. The auditor said;

Please can you provide evidence of how the split of activity over LDCS codes has been determined (i.e. PCFLDCS and PCSLDCS) for LearnAimRef 60324223 and that these are in line with course delivery (this would generally comprise a course description and evidence of a decision as to the field values to be returned)?

We did the best we could, but it's hard when those codes aren't meaningful to us.

The requirement for these fields is dependent on the LDCS Codes (1 to 3) as recorded in LARA/LARS for the qualification undertaken by the student cohort. If the LDCS code in LARS is not null, then the Percentage taught should be returned and the total of all three fields must = 100%

It is the proportion taught (%) in each LDCS listed for the qualification, You could base this on qualification time, credits, units or on the timetabled contents delivered against each LDCS.

I only gave the 50%/50% split as an example the provider should use their best judgement from one of the above options to determine the actual split for the qualification.

Agreed Martin, I just suspect it's common practice to simply split 50%/50%. Always worth making people aware of this, since there's not a lot of guidance on the subject :)
