Is this evidence of learning and OTJ ?

Edited

Hi expert friends: would this description count as learning and OTJ? I'm struggling how its evidence of linkeage to the KSB

1-2-1 coaching session where portfolio work is marked and developmental feedback provided to fill gaps where KSBs have not quite been met or missed in the Coach’s opinion.

If it an assessment then this is excluded from OTJ hours, see guidance:

  • “Why are progress reviews and on-programme assessments excluded from the definition?”

 A progress review is the regular tripartite discussion that should take place between the employer, training provider and apprentice, to review the progress of the apprentice in relation to the planned programme of learning set out in the commitment statement.

An on-programme assessment is a periodic or modular assessment that might be required for a qualification that is being delivered as part of the programme.

Neither of these activities impart new learning to the apprentice and this is why both are excluded.

Hi Martin,

Can I confirm that on-programme assessments for non-mandatory qualifications do count towards OTJ?

This is not the case in the guidance:

P46         Off-the-job training does not include:

P46.1     training to acquire knowledge, skills and behaviours that are not required in the standard or framework;

P46.2     progress reviews or on-programme assessment required for an apprenticeship framework or standard; or

P46.3     training which takes place outside the apprentice’s normal working hours.
