Break in Learning after failed module

If a learner fails a mandatory module within their programme which cannot be retaken until the following academic year (degree apprenticeship), would it be proper to put them on a Break in Learning until that point? Or do we think a full withdrawal + restart would be more appropriate?

I do not think a BIL would be appropriate where the Provider cannot provide role on role off delivery so it would be a withdrawal and restart to avoid doing over the planned end date.

They are funny ones these, I agree they're not a Break, but I'm also not sure I'd withdraw them? It's kind of weird because is it new learning if they're retaking (it must be otherwise they'd have passed first time, right?)...

I'd really like some proper Degree App guidance, now we're five years in...
