Whilst the 20% completion payment is, I believe, intended to give you a lump sum at the end to pay for the EPA, it isn't just that. In AEB, we get achievement payments, which I suppose are a reward/incentive. I think of the 20% completion as partly like that too, since not all of it is necessarily to pay for the EPA.
Some EPAOs ask for payment well before gateway. Some don't provide a refund even if they don't sit EPA, so then you've spent money but don't get the 20% completion. Our EPA costs are often below 20% of the TNP, so when a student gets to gateway and doesn't do the EPA (which is a withdrawal), we lose not only the assessment income, but also some of the training income, even though we delivered all the training.

Apprenticeship full banding breakdowns
Created
Hi everyone, looking for some help in giving a rationale for apprenticeship funding breakdowns for our accounts reporting and predictions, specifically in the cost of EPA and final payments after completion of EPA.
Working on the assumption that the TNP agreed is at the full banding, that 80% of that funding will be paid up until the planned practical end date. At the point the learner enters EPA, the training provider pays the EPAO the agreed fee for that learner.
What is the final summary of payments that can be expected for a learner, assuming they complete their EPA? Pass, or fail. Does the final payment on completion include the payment of cost already incurred for the EPA, or is this also paid in addition?
I'm working on my understanding that the full banding totally encompasses everything, and that the cost we incur for EPA is covered by the final payment. As a new provider not having ever received any completion payments, we just want to be sure what we're estimating in advance.
Thanks for your help
