EPA Re-Sit

Created

Hi All,

If someone fails EPA, and you put them back through again, but there is no extra funding being claimed for additional support or learning to pass, how do you record this on the ILR?  I know the provider support manual says that if if isn't funded by the ESFA you shouldn't update the ILR, but I just wanted to know if anyone else does record it (without claiming funding) so the positive outcome can be recorded from a QAR point of view.

Many Thanks

Lisa

As long as it's in-year, there's no reason you couldn't update the ILR with the new outcome/achievement date once the resit has been taken, though personally I'd suggest finding out whether the apprentice intends to resit before recording the completion/outcome on the ILR.

If the answer is 'no', you can update the ILR with the failure, receive your completion payment, and be done with it.

If the answer is 'yes', I'd wait until the outcome is known as you'll avoid having to then adjust it later on or it not being reflective of the truth. The achievement date on the ILR marks the conclusion of the EPA period.. so if the apprentice has indicated their intention to resit, the original EPA was failed, but the EPA period is still ongoing.
