EPA Learning Aims

Created

I just found out that there are a load of learning aims in FALA called "[Something] EPA" or "EPA [Something]" (example 61011721). What are they for? I'd never heard of a learning aim to represent an EPA. We've been doing Standards for years and we've never used one of these. When I've looked at the PLR for students who've done Standards elsewhere, I've never seen one of these either. The result just goes on the Programme Aim. If we don't need them, why are they there?

Ooh! Ooh! Please miss! I know this one!

Because Ofqual regulates (most) End Point Assessments they appear on their list of "qualifications" (we know an EPA isn't, strictly speaking, a qualification) and, therefore, when everything Ofqual approves gets pulled into FALA, these EPAs appear! But, you're right, no one would/should/could ever use them in an ILR.

Thanks Steve! Well that's confusing. Our Apps team submitted a set up form for a new Standard, with this weird learning aim in, and when I looked it up I had no clue what it was. They can't explain where they got it from either!

I feel like someone should build a filter in somewhere so these don't get created.
