Hi Steve,
We do similar in that we offer a BTEC even though it is not a requirement of the standard. I raised this with the ESFA as the majority of our learners are taking their EPA now, however won't achieve their BTEC's until June and I was advised that because we don't receive funding for the BTEC's we should use funding model 99 for these. This means the aim can be left open even after the programme aim has been marked as achieved.
The actual advice I received was:
"If the additional aims are continuing to be delivered beyond the Achievement Date of the programme aim, you can withdraw the component learning aim and restart these aims as FM99."
Hope this is of use to you.
Thanks
Michael
OK so I withdrew the main aim from the Gateway date and then set the programme aim to 1/8, then added an additional component aim with the same ILR ref as the main aim, but with the funding model 99 and a start date from the Gateway date. However when I upload the ILR I get the R90 error "The Learning actual end date of the component aims must be returned for this programme"?
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
We always code any non-mandatory aims that we choose to include within an apprenticeship as 99/998, and Aim Type 4. Is your aim type still 3?
We had a right mess when we first had students getting to gateway before completing a Diploma. The first batch, we had to withdraw and re-enrol on the same aim but unfunded, as you're doing. We now default code all non-mandatory quals as 99/998, aim type 4, so it never matters if they get to gateway whilst those aims are still open. It does mean we have to include a non-reg Z00 code for all those apprentices if there are no mandatory aims or E&M, but that's no problem.

Main aim end date after Gateway - AAT

Morning,
I’m hoping somebody can advise what we need to do on the ILR in this situation please. We have learners on an AAT L3 Apprenticeship, they are enrolled onto the Diploma as the main aim (which isn’t a mandatory element of the standard) and they have reached Gateway so I would usually update the ‘programme aim’ completion status to 1 and the outcome to 8. However, the learner still has another exam to sit for the Diploma but I cannot leave the main aim live on the ILR and have the programme aim set to 1/8.
As the Diploma isn’t a mandatory element of the standard, there is no need for this aim to be achieved before the learner reaches Gateway and sits their EPA, however I’m not sure how to code this on the ILR? Does the main aim need to be withdrawn at the Gateway date (even though they are still working on it and it could be achieved)?
