We've had this happen to us quite a few times in the past (as the DAS can be really unintituive for the employers to use). The exact guidance changes every now and again. But if you login to the DAS and start a conversation with the chatbot, put your question to it, it won't give you the right answer but it then lets you chat with a person, who will instruct you in the process. Last time it happened they instructed us of the below: A stop is not reversable on the DAS, the employer can back date the stop date to the start date, which lets you start a new Apprenticeship record on the DAS which will still be live. If you do this and it hasn't resolved by the next return it will clawback any payments made this acadmeic year.

Yes we had the same, we did a final return around the same time and our reports were generated at exactly 17:00! We'd already done an upload, however not all of our DAS cohorts had approved with the employer until 15:30 on the 5th so we did a final upload to check that the data match was clear.

Yes currently that's the line we're taing. However it does mean we're forcing the learners through a bit once their initial signup enthusiasm has faded. It's small numbers we're receiving in this situation but I'm really interested to see how other providers are dealing with it.

It's odd, they don't seem to have fixed the AAF dashboard, getting to the numbers is actually really difficult for example the withdrawals I think the percentage is correct, but the counted withdrawn learners is incorrect. I wonder when this will be updated?

Just an update on this, one of the learners who didn't have a date on their evisa actually had a piece of paper saying they had two years on their visa, so didn't quite match what the home office said. It looked real, however as we're not experts in the residency processes it's really hard for us to understand if it's legitmate. Especially as the evisa system specifically says not to accept any other form of evidence. It's made our IAG people really uncomfortable as there's no clear guidance to ask people for evidence. Was releived to see the esfa update today to say they're looking into it. Fingers crossed we hear back something soon.

I was wondering how this date will affect learners on a break in learning. If a learner returns from a break in learning in May and they don't want to continue funcitonal skills are we required to get them to the end of Funcitonal skills training and sit all the exams with them?

Thanks so much Ruth Canham-James, so the Standard can show full achievement, but the english or maths sub aim can have a later date? I guess it would show as a withdrawal initially then be updated if they resit and pass?

What are people thinking about a learner who refers one of their Functional Skill English exams, decides to move to gateway having failed FS english, however then reattempts and passes functional skills english after their EPA is finished? I was wondering how people are considering showing this in the ILR?

I think reading your earlier coment Julie Maycock you'd record that the learner failed the FS maths, retain evidence of the attempt and training. Then open gateway for the learner. The negative completion would count against you in someway on the AAF (which hasn't been announced yet), but not the apprenticeship QAR or retention figures. I think the 1st of April date, is a way of removing Functional Skills for learners who are in funding this acadmic year but are not going to coninue with them, so they don't count against you on whatever AAF metric they're going to add that will check in paragraph 47. 43. Unusual retention patterns in English and maths provision for apprentices aged 19+ can be considered as a contextual factor in performance reviews under the Apprenticeships Accountability Framework.

A real mess! I eneded up calling the immigration help line as spoke with the DAS people, they couldn't answer the question, then decided to come back to me a few days later answering a different question and close the case (that their status should allow them to start an apprenticeship, but not what evidence we can show that demonstrates the length of time remaining). Then I heard back after I reopened it, that we should speak with someone at the home office. After sitting on hold, the home office were surprised to be referred to regarding this matter, however they did shed some light. Right to work checks that don't have an end date, indicate that the learner is currently applying for or changing their work visa but have been granted right to work. The reason it asks to check again in six months, is that the visa may be granted however the employer must check every six months. So if there is no end date, we need to instruct learners to come back to us when their visa application is finished. Not sure what's changed that's meant we've had several applications in the last month that have had this issue. Unfortunately it means we'll be asking the learners to come back when they have further evidence of a visa end date, which will hopefully be when they're application is finished.
