I work primarily on returns/funding/DAS for a HE Training Provider with c.1500 apprentices covering 15 standards I've been looking after the ILR and funding requirements from the very start of our apprenticeship journey, starting with low numbers back in 2015/16.

Thanks Carrie - that's good to know. I had asked previously about apprentices resitting training modules and was advised that the costs could be covered by ESFA funding, by renegotiating total training price, with any costs above the fee band maximum covered by the employer. However it appears that doesn't apply to EPA resits, as per your guidance above. Many thanks.

Wouldn't the first employer be liable for the completion payment as the outcome (pass/fail) is irrelevant to the completion payment. The question then would be around EPAO payment arrangements for retakes. Does the original assessment price include a second attempt, or is it an extra charge. Extra fees would depend on if the training and assessment price was below the maximum fee band level. If not then the extra cost above the fee band maximum would be funded by the new employer. Steveh - I would be interested in what the Service Desk come back with as we are just atthe point where our apprentices are reaching EPA in larger numbers and already I can see these types of queries occurring.

Hi Gaynor - that is the most up to date guidance as far as I'm aware. There is also this page - https://help.apprenticeships.education.gov.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/360008448299-Data-mismatch-errors This includes DLOCK05 that isn't on the previous guidance page you referred to.

I would try adding the financial records against IAF_ILAS 03 on the 02/07/2020 and then add them again on 01/08/2020. That way they should prompt the ESFA funding system to look at the prices within the current funding year.

Hi David - I think you are both correct, in that the AFinDate should match the restart date but......as you are retrospectively adding the financial data I think you may have to add additional TNP's from 01/08/2021 so that the price is recorded against the current funding year.

Hi David Should the July TNP records not be against IAF_ILAS 03. Looks like they may be attached to the original programme aim?

Hi Michelle - Like you I would assume that the restart code would link the restarted learning aims for the apprentice to the BIL learning aims, and therefore the original start date would apply against the your current LARS code. However I couldn't clarify for sure, and you probably will need to test your ILR for a definitive confirmation.

I would think that would only apply where the apprentice has given permission for the TP to share the information with the employer.

Hi Ceri - yes I agree with Martin, we have a number of learners in that position. It is just a flag in your ILR (LSF_1) in Learning Delivery Funding and Monitoring, and/or additional funding in an EAS return.
