Henry Wish Thanks for your reply. I have a couple of queries. 1) When the website is updated, will you be updating the LDNS for all qualifications at the same time? From what you have written, it looks like it may be a rolling process whereby some quals are updated sooner than others. 2) For each qualification, will you be updating the LDNS for all funding streams at the same time (AEB, ALL, etc..)?

Thanks Ruth Canham-James. Perhaps Henry Wish could confirm this for us (please, Henry)?

Steve Hewitt and Martin West, thank you for your replies. I was looking at this from the point of view of non-regulated learning and wondering what curriculum we would have to include for a legitimate classification under SSA 6.1. Martin West, that document from LIS does help, thank you. I'm not sure who "owns" the SSA classification, perhaps OFQUAL? I'm surprised that there is no published definition of the SSA's, as robust definitions must surely be employed when new qualifications are developed?

Does anybody know of a guide to using the LARS database download? I've been looking through the MDB file and comparing it to the FALA website, but it is really confusing. Take aim 50113811 for example. (OK, I know it is not a L3, so it is a deviation from the title of this thread, but bear with me) On FALA it is fundable for new starts under adult skills up to 31/7/23, and the weighted rate is £941, and it is fundable under local flexibility rules. Where can I find this data in the database? I've looked in the following tables: Core_Lars_Funding, but this does not have it listed under Adult Skills. Are we supposed to use the old "Matrix" classification in this table, which does have the correct weighted rate for adult skills? Core_Lars_Validity, This does have it listed in a category named "Adult_skills" with dates to match FALA Coming back to Level 3 aims and fundability under the NSF. Looking at the two aims that I supplied in my first post, it is complicated to reach the same conclusions from this database that I reached from FALA.

Ruth Canham-James, The date discrepancy in your example is clear and very disappointing. I have not noticed any such discrepancies in the quals that we deliver. Is there any other download available that shows the funding availability dates for each funding stream? I have been looking for such a download that also includes the subject areas - a useful column that is omitted from this download.

The LDNS for Adult Skills seems to apply only when the funding source is not FCFJ. In other words, it is only the FCFJ scenario that over-rides the Adult Skills LDNS.

Steve Hewitt, thanks. Yes, you are right about that being daft, in fact it is really misleading. I have had several distraught colleagues come to me thinking that their quals were no longer fundable, when really they are still fundable.

Henry Wish, How can I find out who is the nominated contact who receives email notification of remittances? Is it linked to a permission in IDAMS?

Interesting thread. I was just discussing this very point with some colleagues today: When does the PLR get updated with ILR data? We looked up some of our learners today (14/10) whose learning was included in our last ILR, and the learning record is still not shown on the PLR. We have found that some ESOL learners try to enrol on ESOL provision with us, whilst also doing ESOL provision at another provider (or vice versa). If a provider checks the PLR at point of learner registration and finds no relevant (overlapping) aims at another provider, they will be entitled to start the learner and claim funding. Down the line, when the PLR is updated, a problem may arise. As far as I know, the only report which might highlight such an overlap is the FRM01 report when the learner achieves the aim at the first provider. I believe that the provider with whom learning is still continuing will see this record reported on the FRM01 after the first achievement is recorded. When this happens, is it allowed that the providers with whom learning is still ongoing can keep the funding they already claimed up to the point that the problem came to light?

I asked this question myself only yesterday in another thread, as I did not notice that this thread already existed. It looks like nobody knows!
