Ben James We still have the same issue working with large firms who have complex legal depts/processes. In those instances we have been starting learners with commitment statement and app agreement as you suggest, whilst the contract is with the employer for review. The points above which Martin raised are largely covered by the Individual Learning Plan and an Employer handbook - both of which we share earlier in the onboarding process, so hopefully that is sufficient.

We've come across this once in the past and decided not to accept them on the basis we couldn't find another employee who was suitable to attend progress reviews and provide on-programme/EPA support. I wonder whether for the purposes of onboarding you could get a member of the HR team to sign commitment statement and app agreement? Would be interesting to know what other providers think

Hi Margaret Foster I didn't get an answer on timings unfortunately. We do however use both, a contract and an apprenticeship agreement. Our Contract for Services is based on a template the AELP share with members. Hope that helps.

I'd like to know the answer to this too. We have learners based in London and have never had this crop up until very recently when a handful contacted us to say their oyster card had been stopped. Apparently TFL said that we had listed the apprentice as ineligible so I sent the apprentice a screenshot of the Apprenticeship Service showing them as "Live" to share with TFL. I am not sure if they managed to resolve this with TFL but it would be helpful to have some guidance.

Hi Rachel, We require a new apprenticeship agreement whenever EPA changes (i.e. apprenticeship extends) so for us this includes apprentices who go past their planned end dates. We use a new apprenticeship end date based on when we think the apprentice will sit EPA. If they happen to delay or defer again, we create another version of the app agreement so this is in place for the actual duration. We have some apprentices on version 3 of their agreements at the moment. HTH
