Wow. I've notified the helpdesk too (I should have checked here first but there's no harm in them understanding the scale of the impact). It'll be impossible for combined authorities to send valid Community Learning records on the ILR with that rule in place.

I could do but the danger of defaults is that it can lead to complacency. It's difficult to tell the actuals from the defaults whereas I know who to chase up when it's blank. Don't be too impressed though, we're not 100% complete at the start. Learners fill in their objectives at the start when they do their ILP. It then has to be inputted so it is usually a week or so after the start when the data is in the system. Same for the outcomes, if I'm honest. I'd rather there was a 30-day grace period for both to give us chance to get the stuff back from the community venues and inputted. My R04 had nearly 300 missing Purposes and 100 missing Outcomes which meant the ILR had loads of invalid learners. Yes, we recognise there is some work to do in some areas to minimise the delay between the enrolment starting/stopping and the Purpose/Outcome going on but in many cases it just isn't possible. Plus there were loads that haven't actually started yet. I think it would be useful to have warnings for those that start in the future, Purpose to error 30 days after the start date and Outcome to error 30 days after the end date.

The intention is that you put FFI 1 if the learner is not paying anything and FFI 2 if they are paying some fees. CL fee remission has always been left to the provider's own policy but, as Steve says, some CAs seem to be trying to dictate the policy.

This is something we are just starting to look into given the increased access to AI.

Just an update: I had a response form the help desk to say that my file today did not fail. Although I was looking at the submission and it clearly said 'Failed'. Maybe it is reporting 'Failed' instead of 'Processing'. They said yesterday's file did fail, though. So, my advice would be to leave it an hour or two and see if it processes. If it still has a failed status then log your call.

Hi Ceri. I had to log a call and they released it. I then realised my file had some staff members missing and had to go through it all again.

Thanks Paul and Kelly. The course isn't on offer in the DA where she lives. She could rent a house near the college she wants rather than living on campus. She would then be funded as her address would then not be in a DA and she'd be eligible for DfE funding... It is quite a flaw in the devolution arrangement.

I'm reluctant to default the source data because we'd then not know the difference between defaults and actual learner responses. However, I can amend the ILR without affecting the source just for the purpose of getting it valid for the return. It's an extra step in my ILR processing but hey-ho.
