Standard Achievement Date

Created

None

Hello,

Is anyone else having problems with EPAOs giving wrong end dates for EPAs? It seems like this previous conversation was talking about a similar issue.

We had some school based apprentices, who finish in June, and do the EPA in July (quick turnaround). The curriculum team were really confused and concerned about why the results weren't appearing in 22/23. It turns out, the EPAO gave us a "Certificate Claimed" date in August, which is not the Achievement Date as I read the ILR/PSM rules (it should by the last part of the EPA assessments). The team who entered this date in our ILR weren't aware that the EPA actually happened in July, so wouldn't have spotted the disparity. It only came to light because it crossed the academic year boundary and so moved the results.

We'll be talking to the EPAO involved, but it's frustrating if they don't understand/provide the data we need for our ILR.

Ruth Canham-James I've been looking at this too - we've had one this morning for example where the date of the EPA was 25th September but the results were shared yesterday.

Based on the below from the PSM, I think I'd be comfortable using the date of the EPA as that's when the EPA activity ended:

The programme aim must be updated with the Achievement date recorded as the date the end point assessment period for the programme was completed, whether the outcome was a success or a failure.

Yes, that's what we want, the date of the last bit of the EPA. We just need to make sure we're being told what that was, and not just the date they shared the result. Mostly, they do give us both dates, and it's on us to enter the right one.

With you - it would help if they standardised the communication of results. Every EPAO I work with has their own format and differing content...
