Changing Employer for EPA Resit

Created

None

We have an apprentice who failed EPA but is planning to resit in May (currently on completion and outcome codes 1+8). They have let us know they will be changing employer before the resit takes place. How do we approach this in terms of updating the ILR?

I am not sure if we should update the outcome to no achievement so we receive the completion payment from the first employer or whether we should wait on the basis the apprentice may resit and achieve with new employer?

That's a new one on me! My gut feeling is that the first employer really should pay the Completion element, it just seems fair. Does the resit need any involvement from the employer? If not, you could just not report the change. If you record a fail, then you still wouldn't be recording anything about the new employer. If the new employer does need to be involved with the resit, is the EPAO jut happy to do that with no extra paperwork?

Thanks Ruth and that was my feeling too. No involvement required at this stage from new employer but I have asked our EPAO in case.

I have something a bit similar. The apprentice is currently in gateway and has completed the first assessment, however they are likely to be with a new employer for the 2nd part. The current employer is saying they will take them off DAS as when they complete they will no longer be employed by them. I cant imagine the new employer will want to pay the 20%. Any thoughts please?

I am no clearer on what the 'right' thing to do is here but as the completion payment is earnt when learning is finished we went ahead and recorded this with the first employer.
