Apprenticeship Components

Hello. Other than English and maths, what's the value of recording other aims we deliver as 36/105 and Aim Type 3?

I just said in this post that we don't code non-mandatory aims as part of the apprenticeship, but do we even need to code mandatory aims as 36/105 Aim Type 3? There's no funding or stats, so what's the point? It might mean you don't have to record a Z00 code because this mandatory aim exists, but most of our apprenticeships have a Z00 code anyway as there are no mandatory quals, and we just return it even if they're doing English/maths because it's easier to be consistent.

The issue we have is when apprentices change Standard, but are continuing with a common aim. You're allowed to do that and guidance is change the Standard code, but it was mandatory in the first Standard, but not in the second. we don't really want to record it as 36/105 any more in case they don't complete it before gateway, and we get the issue in the above linked post. Could we just not record any aims as part of the apprenticeship other than English/maths and a Z00 code? I can't think of any implications. I don't know that DfE are interested in what aims we're running in apprenticeships.

On a similar topic, I've tried to challenge DfE on why we still need a Z00 code if there are no other component aims, but they say they can't change the validation because T-Level ZPROGs need components. I'm pretty sure they could exclude Programme Types that are not T-Levels, but they tell me it's not possible. It confuses OfS when they try and audit the L4+ Z00 codes that don't represent any delivery. I hear a lot of people say that the Z00 code represents Standard delivery, but how can it when it doesn't need to exist when there's a FS aim? The ZPROG represents the Standard content, which OfS aren't supposed to audit us on. Until DfE stop us needing to return L4+ Z00 codes on apprenticeships, OfS are going to keep trying to audit us on things that are nothing to do with them 🙁 Fortunately, we argued our way out of returning an HE data set for an enrolment that doesn't represent anything. Sadly, most of our L4+ apprenticeships don't have any aims at all, so I can't avoid recording the Z00 code. It's absurd that a L4+ apprentice who happens to be doing maths is not auditable by OfS because we weren't forced to report a L4+ Z00 code, but someone in the same Standard not doing English or maths is auditable.

Oh, I'd not heard the T Level excuse before... Obviously, it was the Framework excuse before that. Very handy that, as one programme that generated funding via components ends, another one comes along...
