Nobody can change the planned end date. It looks like the AS record has already been completed. There should be a "Completion Payment Month" which will be earlier than the Planned Training End Date. If that is showing Oct 2025, then I don't understand why a new one can't start in December 2025. Apprentices do just complete early sometimes. I'd go back to the AS and see if you can get someone else. A stop is categorically not supposed to be used for a completion, and you can't use a stop if it's already completed anyway.
I thought that date came from the Achievement Date you put in your ILR, but apparently not. If it was in the R03, that can't have been Jan 2026. I've just found one of ours with an ILR Achievement Date in Oct 2025 (planned end was Aug 2026), and an AS payment month of Jan 2026 too. We reported that in our R03 too (weird coincidence that it's very similar to your case). I checked our Apps Monthly Payment report and we absolutely got paid in the October column, not January. How very odd. That's definitely one to raise again with the AS. An apprentice must be able to complete early and progress without this clash happening, even if we did report the achievement date a couple of months late (leading to belated payment date).
Had a similar issue a couple of months ago where a learner completed Level 2 and both them and their employer wanted to start Level 3 immediately and had the over lapping Training Dates issue due to the Planned Training End Date of the Level 2 being in the future. Was advised by the helpdesk to get the employer to amend the planning training end date on the Level 2. Was assured that this would not affect the Completion Payment and it didn't affect it. The employer did this and then the Level 3 over lapping training dates cleared. I would just check with the Helpdesk if this is still possible to do.
Oh yes! Once the DAS record is completed, it opens up a new option for the employer to change the Planned End Date:

I hadn't seen that, thanks John Eves. What a bizarre way to manage that when they haven't changed the Planned End Date. It would make so much more sense for the Achievement Date to be used to populate an actual end date in DAS that could be used to determine overlap.
That still doesn't explain why the AS says the completion payment date was January.
Good morning 😊
Issue has been resolved. It is the end date that the employer needs to alter on the apprenticeship service account, below is the response from AS Support and it's worked:-
Please note that this will not stop a new record from being added if there is a progression to a new apprenticeship. If there is an overlapping training date error, please advise that they will need to amend the previous end date to be in line with the date the end-point assessment was sat. The new apprenticeship record can then be added. This would still happen if the completion status was being generated.
The employer can amend the projected finish date through their employer apprenticeship service (AS) account (https://www.gov.uk/sign-in-apprenticeship-service-account) by:
Selecting 'Apprentices' from the 'Apprenticeships' section on the homepage,
Selecting 'Manage your apprentices',
Locating and selecting the apprentice name from the list,
Selecting 'Edit' next to Apprentice details,
Inputting a new planned end date e.g. change from December 2025 to September 2024 or earlier.
Hi there
We have had the same issue, with two learners completing and achieving early their L3s and progressing onto L6. There is still a data mismatch going back to September 2025. The help desk says the employer needs to change the end date - the employer couldn't (they screen shared and they didn't have the option as the learner had already achieved & we have received completion payment). Then the helpdesk wanted the evidence from our ILR of the completion which we sent then they said the employer must change the date. We are still stuck with no outcome - who do we complain too - as this is 4 months on......???
Jenny Johnson I would get the employer to double check the DAS record again. Make sure they're looking at the right one. There should be an Edit button next to the Planned End Date for every Completed DAS record. It only becomes available once the DAS record is closed as Completed. I checked ours (from the employer account), and they all do. If the old record is not yet marked as Completed, you'll need to ask the App Service why that is if you closed it in the ILR.
We have a similar issue with completed learners showing as live on the DAS. We've recevied completion payments and the learner has received their certificates. We contacted the service and they replied with:
I understand from your web chat today, that one of your learners are still showing as 'live' in the Apprenticeship Service Account, when they completed their apprenticeship in September they have received their certificates and the completion payment has been received.
We are aware that apprentice records where completion payments have been paid are not updating the apprenticeship service status of learners from live to completed. The completion payments have been paid which you can see in your monthly payment report in Submit Learner Data and your remittance.
This will not stop a new apprenticeship from being added to the apprenticeship service if the apprentice is progressing to a new apprenticeship.
This status stopped updating on 16th September and we are currently working on a resolution for this issue.
I think there may be some confusion over their meaning with end date and planned end date.
Due to this issue I think they're allowing learners who are live but the planned end date has passed. As my conversation with the support person they were very focused on the planned end date and it being changed by the employer. However in our case the planned end date has already passed on the DAS. They were telling me to change the planned end date to the actual EPA date. But in our case the planned end date had already passed.
Would be helpful if they kept a Known Issues list.

Apprenticeship Service Account
Created
Hi
We have an apprentice that has completed and achieved his L2 October 2025 and started his L3 December 2025. On the apprenticeship service account it is showing as completed but has a data mis-match.
I think this is because he's on the ILR for his L3 but the apprenticeship account won't accept his L3 funding because it's saying there is an overlap of dates (his planned end date for his L2 is March 2026). The helpdesk say that the employer needs to change the end date on his L2 funding on their apprenticeship service account but having looked at this it doesn't look like the employer can change the end date.
Do you know how I can resolve this?
