Wow! It's massive and we'll have the same problem fitting it onto our paper form.
The last paragraph states:
Changes to this privacy notice
We may change this privacy notice and we encourage you to check this privacy notice from time to time.
Hoping it gets shortened before summer!
Steve Hewitt thank God! I can take my tin helmet off now ;)
It may be in order to include a link to the following as this refers to other privacy documents that are applicable to learners.
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/esfa-privacy-notice/esfa-privacy-notice
This includes:
We collect and process the following information:
- Enrolment and achievements- this is collected from learning providers following their funding terms and conditions. Learning providers include further education colleges and private training companies where you undertake learning.
- Individualised Learner Record (ILR)- information about you and what you are studying is collected by the ILR. See the ILR privacy notice for more details.
- Learning Records Service (LRS)- information about you is used by ESFA to issue you with a Unique Learner Number (ULN), and to create and keep your Personal Learning Record. See the LRS privacy notice for more details.
- National Careers Service- ESFA encourages participation in further education and learning by providing careers information and advice services. See the National Careers Service privacy notice for more details.
- Bursary for Vulnerable Group Scheme- uses the information you give to your educational institution (e.g. your college) to decide if you are eligible for a bursary under the scheme eligibility criteria.
- If you start an apprenticeship- your information is supplied to us by your employer to enable DfE to carry out its functions. We collect information about you and what you are studying. See the Manage Apprenticeship service privacy notice and Apprenticeship website privacy notice for more details.
Karen Simmons I know they've already drafted a shorter one, and are just getting it approved, I sent a chase up email about it this morning.
We want to start enrolling a small group on 10th May, so could really do with it soon so we don't have to include the really long Privacy Notice for them them. I really don't want to go down the route of chasing them up to sign new privacy statements in a month, so currently the long notice is the only option.
Ah Karen Simmons I will go back to the team for the correct link! Apologies.
The 21/22 Appendix F that is at https://guidance.submitlearnerdatabeta.fasst.org.uk/ilr/appendices hasn't been updated yet. I assume they won't be putting the short version somewhere else.
Hello, back with a useful update this time!
The ILR and data security team have published the privacy notice. The location is now is on the ILR webpage: https://guidance.submitlearnerdatabeta.fasst.org.uk/
The previous ILR Privacy Notice (Appendix F) has been removed and so the new page replaces the previous PDF file to meet accessibility requirements.
Mike Lewis thank you for pointing that out. The data security team has updated the link.
It is its own link now under the ILR spec 21/22 here ESFA - Online Documentation (fasst.org.uk)
Direct link to notice is ILR Privacy Notice 2021 to 2022 (fasst.org.uk)
Andrew Senior, you have saved my sanity! I was still looking for Appendix F - doh!
Thank you so much.
Neil Pratt Thank you.

21/22 Appendix F Privacy Notice
Created
I'm just looking at creating new paper enrolment forms for 21/22 (for those we don't enrol online), and have just seen the monster that is now Appendix F. They've more than doubled it, and there's no way it will now fit on our paper form without pushing it to a fifth page. We've so far always had this as part of the enrolment form, but that's just no longer possible. I'd ask if it's acceptable to show that we just emailed this to students after they enrolled, but we do need to do the consent options bit before we enrol them. Can I include a cut down version with the consent fields, with a link to the full thing, and then email them the whole thing after they enrol? Appendix F says "Training providers should ensure that all learners have seen this privacy notice as part of their enrolment processes".
