Withdrawal within qualifying period (apprenticeships)

Edited

None

If a learner started an apprenticeship, completed induction and learning on same day, were claimed in last month's return, but then shortly after decided that he/she did not wish to continue.  Before next submission do we need to:

a) Withdraw the learner with the same actual end date as their start date (as that was officially their last day in learning)?; or

b) Delete the learner from the ILR altogether and the funding will reconcile itself?

Thanks

You need to do a. As the PSM says "You must include on the ILR all learners who have attended one episode of learning". The funding will get clawed back either way though.

Thanks Ruth Canham-James.

I assume had the learner completed first episode in learning and withdrew in the same month then they should never reach the ILR in the first place so this wouldn't be an issue.  Just happens it was near month end in this instance :)

Thanks

Dan Hodgetts can I ask what you did, we have a similar situation and I'm not sure whether I should remove our learner from the ILR or leave him in our return.

Many thanks in advance

Hi Tracy Bennett, we did exactly as Ruth Canham-James suggested and withdrew the learner "back to start", i.e. with and actual end date that matched the start date (last day in learning)

Funding was reconciled and take back off us, which was of course expected.
