Employer set up as Non levy but Telling me they are Levy

Hello All

Has anyone come across this problem - we have an employer that is telling us they are a levy payer but when we go to add learner details (we have permissions) its asking me to reserve funds - which states they are non levy. I have double checked with the employer and they are adamant they are levy.. I have asked the contact the helpdesk but is there anything they can do in the meantime?

Thanks

Sarah

I would almost certainly wait for the Service Desk to come back to you before proceeding as you won't want to muck up your funding (the chat function is much quicker, I've found) but it may be related to how they've added their PAYE scheme. When adding one, employers are invited to do so via their Government Gateway log-in, or by using their accounts office reference number and employer PAYE scheme reference. The latter should only be used if their payroll is under £3 million, but if your employer has used this method, it may have confused the service.

think I was told that employers who were non-levy, and become levy, have to actually contact the AS to get their DAS account converted to a levy account. I don't think it happens automatically when they go above £3million PAYE. So yes, as Ben says, wait for the AS to respond. It may be something you can't resolve, and the employer needs to take action to make sure they have the correct type of DAS account.

Thanks I will inform them to go speak to the Help desk - the employer has always been Levy they just didnt set up the account correctly at the beginning!!

another joy is when they think they are levy but its CITB levy they pay not the apprenticeship levy... always fun to unpick!
