We're not getting them yet, apparently. URGENT: For immediate member action (aelp.org.uk) (an unlocked Ask Simon blog!) Asymptomatic testing The government’s plans for rolling out asymptomatic testing from the start of January (Mass asymptomatic testing: schools and colleges - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)) do not presently include arrangements for ITPs during the first phase. In the calls today [31 Dec], officials confirmed that plans for ITPs were being considered but they were not yet in a position to communicate a timeline for when such testing would commence.

Absolutely NOT! We do not change the PED just because learners haven't finished, they'll just finish after they were meant to. It is a "planned" end date, after all. Given there is no concept of "timeliness" for Standards yet, there's no impact on achievement rates.

(because I cannot stop myself, I *think* a 19 year old on minimum wage (£6.40) on a Joint Claim with their partner and therefore allowed £459 a month could feasibly work 21 hours before they hit it. If that's literally what you've got, then just put them as 11-20 hours and add a note to their file).

So, here's the thing, it's a bodge. Quite a big bodge. The Funding Rules specify financial amounts of earnings per month above which a learner on UC (and related benefits) is not considered to be "unemployed", not how many hours they work. However, as we don't record income on the ILR they had to come up with a proxy, BUT the Employment Intensity values were set by ESF (no really) so all we have is 0-10, 11-20, 21-30, 30+. The threshold is *not* 20 hours, it's £343 take home earned income per month. Even a 19 year old on minimum wage would hit this with 15 hours a week BUT the ILR only errors if you use the Employment Intensity Indicator for 21-30 or 30+ hours.

There's always one!!! ;) But, you're right, can't have an EEF 2 and an EEF 4 on the same record After Quite A Long Time down a funding rule rabbit hole, I'd go for EEF 4 because you need that for the learner to get the Care Leaver's Bursary, but any additional funding for Learning Support comes from LSF 1 and, where necessary, the Earning Adjustment Statement. All EEF 2 on its own does is stop the employer contribution being generated, which EEF 4 does as well.

So, they remain eligible for funding because they're ordinarily resident here. My only slight qualm is about the 50% in England rule? There was another question about someone working at home in Wales @Melanie Aspinall, did you work out what to do?
