Thank you so much for your response. I did also contact the helpdesk and was told to enter her as unemployed. I do where possible try to make my own judgement but very often question myself.

Just received a response from the ESFA to say that they cannot attend training whilst on a break in learning.

I did also explain that we may not have evidence only word of mouth for when they last attended work. They have said whilst there is no requirement in the funding rules for evidence to be collected, it may be advisable to ask for a P45, resignations letter or a letter stating termination of employment. Thank you for your responses. I actually sent this message as a query to the ESFA helpdesk and have been told that The Break in Learning would start from the end date with the previous employer and the 12 weeks would commence from that date. Helen.

We have registers when they are in training with us so I am thinking it might be better to use a date when she was last in learning rather than the date she was with her Employer. Do you know if the 12 weeks are counted from her break in learning? Thanks Helen.
