Hi Kelly thanks for your reply...interesting I have contacted DfE and they have had to escalate this, ridiculous really as it should be in  a guidance document somewhere - I did ask if the same rule as for apprenticeships applied, ie "Learners who are temporarily outside of the UK for reasons such as education, employment or a gap year, should be considered ordinarily resident in the UK for the purposes of assessing eligibility for apprenticeship funding upon their return to the UK" and still have no reply Have also asked our Bootcamp funder and waiting to hear from them too. Thank you both for your comments its all v confusing I must say ..... ....as last learning can take place long before the learner has finished pulling their portfolio of evidence together for EPA,......hopefully this will be further  eased by the gradual phase out of EPA

Hi Cynthia As yet we have not received a response from DFE - the query was escalated by them and am just receiving the usual "we escalated this to our Technical Support Team for further clarification". I can't believe that its takes this long to provide a response to what should be an easy question. In the meantime we are continuing as before in that last learning also takes place on the Gateway date, unless we hear otherwise

Thanks Steve - was really panicked after the session he did!! I'm still awaiting the reply from DFE (its been escalated)  - and will add this once received - will be interesting to see what  they say 🤔.

I've also now had a response for the additional question above:- "Yes, if a learner withdraws from a standard and then subsequently restarted with the same employer, apprenticeship and provider the ILR again would require a TNP 3 and TNP 4 to be added with the remaining residual costs."

Well interesting you mention the other scenario about returning  to the  same employer because i've previously had an issue with that as well and was was told by the helpdesk  that the original price should be used and recorded as  TNP1 /2 ....again not covered in the guidance, but I suppose this is  treated the same as a return from BIL to the same employer..... My other  concern with that scenario is then calculating the 5% co-investment element   - esp if they have received a refund of the unused element previously and are now appearing to be liable for the full amount again?!

HI All Well i have an update :- where an apprentice withdraws, then returns to the same standard, with the same provider but with a different employer  then it is the residual balance and TNP3/4. I am going to try this shortly, but I have also fed back that this scenario needs including  within the ILR provider support manual
