Hello,

Just a query regarding learners awaiting EPA

  • is there a time limit on how long a learner can remain in EPA (for example if a learner goes on BIL once in gateway they remain on the ILR as 1/8) is there a time limit that they can remain as 1/8? do they affect the achievement rates at negatively any point while in 1/8?

Thanks,

Nope and Nope.

Theoretically, a future "timely" achievement measure might be impacted by these learners but as there is no sign at all that this is being developed, I think we can safely put it in the "don't care" box!

ESFA are getting very jittery about Past Planned End Date learners at the mo, but that's mainly about those still in learning, not those in Gateway (I assume because none of the providers going bust had large numbers in Gateway...)

Steve Hewitt Does it not impact QAR at all? There's something in the Apps version about getting results in by R04 the next year, that I don't fully understand because I rarely deal with QAR. We have one that is faaaaar past Actual End Date.

Timely achievement would be interesting if you get apprentices who went on a "break" after delivery finished, as you can't record those in the ILR, they just stay at 1/8 until they eventually sit the EPA.

As far as I have ever understood, R04 is mainly used for the cut off for long BILS. I know it *says* it does something else, but no one has ever been able to clearly explain it to me...

And, in that case, they'd just bring BILs back in Gateway like they did during Covid....

Hi, Just checking my own understanding on this point. Is it based on the Apprenticeship Technical Spec page 21, where deriving the achievement year of a programme aim includes this line:

'When the Completion status is 1 and Outcome is 8 set to 0'

0 indicating that the aim is not included in the QAR calculation? Thanks

Steve Hewitt

Correct, should be showing as Hybrid End Year 2022.5

Thanks Steve.
