Past Planned End Date AAF Checking learners

Created

None

We're reviewing the AAF now the Past Planned End date percentage has changed. We noticed something odd and I wanted to see if others have also experience this.

It now counts learners who are still in learning, excluding those in gateway who are are at least 1 day over their planned end date at the census point which I think is the same as the ILR return hard close 4th working day of the last return.

Based on last months return we were expecting to see 48. The number of learners is correct, but when we look at the names of the learner data on the learner data tab, it displays a different 48 learners. It displays learners who are in EPA and excludes other learners who are over their planned end date. Is anyone else also experiencing this?

Or if someone has progressed from, eg L2 to L3

If someone left and came back (e.g., after a Break) they're counted twice. Same learner, multiple prog aims.

Thanks Ben James. Is there anything that would exclude an old POT from being counted as a learning aim? Dates, outcome etc?

I am struggling to reconcile the number of learning aims quoted with any combination of the number of ZPROGs in my ILR files. I can get close to the number that the DfE have but not quite there.

It is the total of all Apprenticeship ZPROGs in your export file. I get my count for the Valid.LearningDelivery Table of the FIS SQL export file using an excel query.

(does it not exclude pre 42 day withdrawals?)

Martin Outlaw

I do not believe so, but I will review the numbers and report back.

Martin Outlaw

On the past planned end date sheet, it has a total for number of Apprentices, and number of learning aims.

The calculation is based on the number of learning aims as the denominator, and that includes all Apprenticeship ZPROGs, including pre 42 day withdrawals.

(so that's actually in our favour then, isn't it? maybe we'd better keep quiet about it ;))

We have a learner currently on a break who is included in the figure - they were PPLED at the time of going on a break. I thought they would be excluded on the basis they have an actual end date.... am I missing something?

Martin Outlaw

If they are on a break then they cannot be included in this report as the completion status is 6 not 1, it is irrelevant whether they the started the break before or after their end date.

The only relevant factor is if they started the break after your final R06 upload.
