That is a very interesting question! According to all the rules, you should just close with an August date in 26/27, but you're right, that would cause an overclaim for July. I suspect nobody would ever notice, that's not going to come up on FRM27. I'd might ask DfE what they suggest, but it sounds like a reasonable solution to just take out of the ILR in both years. I think you might still be able to hand funding back on the EAS.

I missed that! We never handed back FRM27 vis the EAS anyway, we always waited for DfE to tell us how much they wanted back (which was an allowable option), as it often didn't quite add up to what we calculated we should be giving back. Always ballpark, but rarely quite the same, so we avoided double doing the job. Because it takes DfE so long to claw it back (usually 16 months after the end of the year in which you overclaimed), I do always give Finance a heads up on how much we expect to get clawed back.
In your case, Lisa, if you decide to just follow the rules and not worry about it as Steve says, you could tell Finance that you might get clawback, but I assume it's a small amount and not worth mentioning.

Leaver Across Academic Years
Created
Hi All,
I am just after some advice on an apprentice learner, they started in July, and are now a leaver in August and have done less than 42 days on programme.
Due to how the system reconciles the data across academic years I can put the August last day of learning in the 26/27 ILR, but would need to put a date of at least 31/07/26 in the 25/26 ILR to pay back July's payment we are no longer entitled to. Or we could delete the learner from the system.
Would anyone do anything different or have any suggestions on how you would resolve this situation?
Thanks
Lisa
