I agree with you Steve. It won't have a huge effect on the QAR, and the BIL kept in check by the AAF. Most learners come back from a BIL within a year, however there are some where that is not the case. In the past we've had to make them leavers, however that will no longer be the case.

Yeah I'm just wondering what will need to be returned. Our IAG is firmly underway for our August starts and we're debating what data will need to be reported next month. At the moment we think it will be reduction in hours, our standard OTJT in hours for that programme, Reduction in hours, revised funding band maximum and RPL true or false.

I'm not sure if that's what it means, it does state in the above that it'll be treated 'if there is no restart record or continuation of break record in either: the R14 ILR return in 2023 to 2024 the R14 ILR return in 2024 to 2025' so if a learner on a break in learning in July 24, comes back August 25. As long as at R12 and R14 24/25 has a break in learning record, R01 25/26 can have a restart record and it still be counted. The trick will be making sure that your LMS is including these records. Admiditedly until the data gets published I feel these specs can always be a bit tricky as keeping up with all the rules is just so hard.

We noticed the same thing as Martin above that learners who were on a break in learning at the end of 23/24 but were reported as withdrawn in this academic year 24/25 were not included in the calculation. This may account for some discrepencies around the reported figure being higher then expected. We also checked that they were being included in the r10 return which they were. We raised it with the DFE and they confirmed this was an error, which is being corrected in a future release of the data.

I was hoping something was going to be announced today in the DFE update. But looks like it'll be next week now? It feels odd showing this news article to my team and explaining why we don't have induction materials ready for learners entering IAG. We've had to spend a lot of time explaining to learners and employers howw OTJT is calculated, what counts etc I went to the training that the DFE offered for these rule changes and they made a point of stating that they'd included the sector in the establishment of these rules which is why they felt comfortable releasing them so late and the changes being so far reaching.

We're the same holiding off updating some of our paperwork, however we're hoping to get it out by the end of the week. Failing that we'll start working towards the new OTJT minimum as that's the latest published guidance for August 1st. Our induction work for these learners will run in July.

For us it works in incognito mode. I think if you clear your cache in chrome or Edge the site should start working for you normally. Make sure you don't delete you uncheck history. https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop Normally when websites are updated there is a flag that the cache needs to be flushed. It doesn't seem to be happening for the DAS, or submit learner data which is weird. I think it must be something linked to the new sign in service they're using.

It's an idea to look at the funding rules as where there is a reduction in OTJT hours (based on RPL), there is a minimum reduction in cost of the equivilant of 50% of the Funding band maximum (which includes TNP2). So if there is a 10% reduction in OTJT from your standard recommeneded training for that learner. Then there is a 5% reduction in the funding band maxium to your standard cost. This changes again next year. Eseentially this always eats away at the TNP1 as TNP2 tends to be locked with EPAO's, haven't met one of them that vary the price based on RPL of one learner so far.
