Hi Demi and Alison, Do pause/stop dates in DAS match the ILR? If they're different that can trigger the DLOCKS.

I've come across them (funnily enough all on one cohort of learners, so I'm wondering if it was something the employer or an agency recommended). We didn't accept them for the same reasons Steve highlighted and made them all do proper FS.

I used to get that issue once we hit about 500 records in the LET. If your personal laptop is a higher spec it might explain why that's still working and your work PC isn't. Security issues are more likely, but I thought I'd throw the idea out just in case it helps. Jo

Hi Matthew, What content would the school be teaching that's outside of the apprenticeship? PGCE add-on? As long as these hours aren't counting towards the 20% OTJ it's probably OK for the ILR, but how would you record this for DfE (and HESA) purposes? Personally I think ITT is the most complicated apprenticeship and adding in some potentially subcontracted content would make it even worse!! Jo

We don't enrol to a full PGCE programme alongside the apprenticeship because the content is too similar. We offer a top-up module to get the PGCE at the end of the apprenticeship. There's no funding claim for the PGCE so we don't think we're breaking the apprenticeship rules.

Are the apprentices triggering any DLOCKS or errors in the ILR? Those will stop the confirmation Jo

Yes, I've got the same issue. I haven't found a way around it yet, but at least you know you're not alone!

I don't think it's an issue. The funding is used to provide the teaching, which the apprentice has had. You won't be claiming achievement on either the apprenticeship or the component aim (partial achievment on the component aim won't count) so you're not manipulating any stats. In fact, the reason that outcome=2 exists is exactly for this situation - an HE qual where only a portion has been achieved. Do you make HESA returns or do you complete the ILR HE dataset?

I think this is because the ILR is recording different things to the HESA returns (assuming you make those). The ILR is only interested in whether the apprentice has acheived the qual that they set out to do at the beginning, and the pass/fail is in relation to that only. There is no mechanism to record actual outcomes that differ to the intended. In your HESA Student return I can't see any reason why you wouldn't return the exit award in the same way that you would for normal HE. In the ILR, I think you could record the component aim as outcome 2 (partial achievement), and the programme aim would be a withdrawal/fail. I don't think that will cause any ILR validation issues!

Hi Matt, Do you offer teacher training at the moment? The apprenticeship rules are the same for everyone, but ITT has the additional DfE rules that also have to be abided by. As far as I'm aware, all the students have to have the L2 English and maths (and science for primary) prior to starting any ITT course. The DfE list of acceptable quals is more generous than those accepted for apprenticeships - this has caused us problems previously. If you don't currently offer teacher training, be aware that you'll also come under an additional ofsted inspecation regime as well as the normal inspection framework. A bit late, but I hope this helps. Jo
